Working hours

Ordinary working hours in Omega is 37,5 hours per week, and shall be performed at assigned workplace. At-home office is not defined as assigned workplace. Impossed work that is performed at assigned workplace is considered overtime, and will be compensated with 50 % overtime pay. Ordinary working hours are between 08:00 and 16:00, with 0,5 hour unpaid lunch break. Flexible hours are within the hours of 07:00 and 16:30.

Overtime rules

Rules for overtime compensation are described in detail in the employment contract. Overtime shall always be pre-approved by the Deartment Manager. Overtime is normally compensated in the following manner: Regular hourly salary + 50 %. All registered and approved hours beyond the normal monthly total is compensated with regular hourly salary + 50 %.

Hours in lieu

Taking time off as in-lieu hours (for accumulated overtime hours) as well as flexible hours shall be agreed upon with the Department Manager. Managers with set overtime are not able to write off whole days in lieu, such days will be consideres holiday/vacation days. In lieu hours may be taken on an hour-by-hour basis, in agreement with Department Manager. This will entail equivalent reduction in approved overtime hours above the total monthly work hours compensated with regular hourly salary + 50 %.

Payment of salary

Work hours shall be registered in Omega’s timesheet application, and shall be kept up to date and approved on a weekly basis. Overtime hours will be paid on the next salary payment. You will find Omega`s hour registration application Timesheet on Connect.

Technical equipment

The Department Manager shall , for own as well as employees’ use, report the need for technical equipment (e.g. mobile phone, computer equipment, software etc.) to the Service Center, who in turn is responsible for procurement and maintenance of equipment that is needed at all times. Used equipment shall be handed in to the Service Centre when upgrading to newer models.

Holiday Pay

All Omega employees with set monthly or hourly salary will be deducted, in accordance with their position, for holiday/vacation (25 working days for those under the age of 60). Payment of acquired holiday/vacation pay (10,2 %) and deduction of holiday/vacation days will be carried out in connection with the June salary payment. Holiday pay is 10,2 per cent of your salary for the last full financial year and is paid on payday in June.
For example, in June 2011 you will receive 10,2 per cent of the money you earned from 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2010.

If you reached 60 years of age by September 1 in the holiday year (2010 in the example above), you have the right to an extra week of holidays and 14,3 per cent holiday pay.

Illness

Sickleave

You must have been employed for two months before self-certified sick leave (own sickness) can be used, and four weeks before self-certified sick leave (children’s sickness) can be used.

Sick pay

Omega employees receive ordinary salary/sick pay (excl. overtime/overtime bonus) for the first 16 days with valid doctor’s certificate (sykemelding). From the 17th day Omega will cover the difference between the current government rate (up to 6 G) and 90 % of ordinary wage for up to 1 year with sick pay. Ordinary wage is based on 37.5 hours/week, adjusted accordingly for part-time positions.

Illness within the family

If a child or child carer is sick, compensation will be given according to AML (Working Environment Act). There is no compensation for sickness in other family.

Doctor/dentist

Employees with set monthly salaries/set hourly salaries may have leave with pay when it is not possible to get appointment outside regular working hours.

Death in close family and colleagues

Omega employees will receive time off with pay on the day the death occurs, and on the day of the funeral. These days do not fall under the self-certified sick leave arrangement. Close family: parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, and siblings. Defacto/wife/husband’s family are treated as own family .

The Department Manager decides whether or not to grant leave with pay for attending funeral services for a colleague.

Daycare and first day of school

Children getting used to daycare/nursery school for the first time

Necessary time off during regular working hours will be given, up to 7,5 hours.

First day of school in 1st grade

Necessary time off during regular working hours will be given, up to 7,5 hours.

Other holidays

Public holidays

Employees with set salaries have public holidays off with full pay.

Registrer these days in Timesheet as 7,5 hours under Public holidays.

Moveable feasts/holidays

New Years Eve and Wednesday before Maundy Thursday are regular working days (7,5 hours) in Omega. On Christmas Eve the working day ends at 13.00 hours/1 pm. The last three working hours are compensated if you normally would work or claim hours in lieu this day.

Omega employees will be compensated for 7,5 hours work for moveable feasts/holidays that occur on days when one would normally work. For imposed hours actually worked on these days, employees are compensated with regular wage + 50 % overtime in addition to holiday compensation.

Holiday schedules in the country you actually work (not during business trips (tjenestereise)) are the basis for calculation of compensation. Therefore, compensation is not paid for both local and Norwegian holidays, even if you are at home in Norway during your free time.

Exclusions

Omega does not compensate for the following days:

  • Study days and exam days. Exam days arranged by Omega are exempt
  • Own wedding
  • Moving days
  • Repeat military exercise

Absence/leave without pay

Short periods of leave without pay can be agreed upon. If leave without pay is granted, a written agreement with the Department Manager must be in place.
