Why recycle?

Recycling is a very simple yet efficient method of reducing the consumption of trees for paper, air pollution from producing metal, contaminated waters from battery disposal and so on.

Some materials are even better suited for recycling than others. Aluminum, for example, can be recycled an indefinite number of times, and recycling saves 95 per cent of the energy used to produce new aluminum.

Simple recycling tips

There are a number of very simple things you can do to recycle goods:

  • Use a paper bin to supplement the trash bin in your office
  • Throw food waste in the designated brown containers at home
  • Use the environmental stations situated across Norway to recycle bottles, glass, paper and cardboard
  • Return discarded electronic equipment to the stores, they are required to handle “EE” waste
  • Lithium and Alkaline batteries may be thrown in the regular garbage, but all other batteries should be returned to an environmental station
