Flying start in Trondheim

Omega`s fifth Norwegian office opened in Trondheim 9 November 2010.

Omegas newest office was opened with ribbon-cutting ceremony and a fashionable three-course dinner in Trondheim November 9, 2010. At the time of the launch approximately five per cent of Omegas employees were based in the region surrounding Trondheim, and with the establishment of the new office, this figure is expected to grow. As of mid-February, 36 team members are connected to the new office.

Good timing

- Trondheim and the middle region of Norway have always been important to Omega, ever since the very beginning when Omega contributed to the development of Tjelbergodden in the mid 1990`s. The timing was perfect for the establishment of the new office in November 2010, with over 30 consultants in the area, and with Trond Aarsland and Camilla Berg as leaders ready for action, says Petter Aalvik, Omega CEO.

Aalvik had the honour of officially opening Omegas fifth and northernmost office two months ago with local consultants, personnel in Trondheim, and Omega visitors from other offices present. Trondheim Office Manager, Camilla Berg hopes the newly opened office will secure Omega many new contacts in the future.

New candidates

- We hope the Trondheim office will help us get in touch with many new consultants, and give us the opportunity to send new candidates to other big clients in the area, such as Reinertsen, Odfjell Drilling, Saipem, Aker Solutions and Fabricom, Berg says.

The Trondheim office recently got its first consultant on site in India and Korea with Teekay Petrojarl, and hopes more both candidates and clients from the region, will sign up with Omega. As the office is eager to recruit, NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) will be the obvious place to start.

Recruiting

- We are about to visit NTNU in March, presenting IAT, systems and project services to final year Masters students. This will assist us in meeting the targets of bigger clients, for example Statoil, who want project personnel with high academic credentials and regional affiliation, Berg says.

The demand for programmers and consultants in Omega increases, and we need more team members in most areas, says Aalvik.

- Right now we are looking for more Planners, Senior Contract Consultants, HSE-Consultants, Processing Engineers, QA Professionals, Risk Engineers, and Engineers in Subsea, Pipeline and Marine Operations. More than ever we need to find the resources where our clients need them, says Aalvik.
