Connect is Omega`s one-stop portal offering access to all of the applications and information essential to our team members.
On March 17 Omega's intranet applications became available via Connect, a more reliable webportal, say Torgeir Fredriksen and Peter Øren.
Connect was launched March 2011. Peter Øren and Torgeir Fredriksen in Omega’s Technology Department, believe that Connect will offer users a solid and reliable intranet portal.
«Connect is more efficient for users than our earlier system, with better quality and more stable applications. Connect is faster and works better for those users who are working abroad», say Øren and Fredriksen.

New TechnologyConnect is built based on Omega’s own AppFrame Web 4 technology. Work on the portal commenced in autumn 2010.
«We started with a clean slate, and as we developed the portal a similar portal was developed for one of our clients out of our Stavanger office. This parallel development allowed us to allocate more resources to the production of the framework and portal in Ølensvåg», say Øren and Fredriksen.
Connect and Web AppFrame 4 represent a completely new technology for Omega. The developers say they have followed current market trends closely, and now have a programme that is well-equipped to support the future development of Omega.
«For Omega, this is of great importance. Web 4 will also be the framework for PIMS and will be an easier tool for our developers to work with. We are now better prepared to build new applications, and this technology will probably become a standard for our web solutions», say Øren and Fredriksen.
