Omega exhibiting in Seattle
Published: 12.08.09 (updated: 09.02.11)
When The Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE International) held its annual meeting in July 2009 in Seattle, our US Company, Omega Project Solutions, participated as one of the corporate exhibitors, showcasing our products and services.
Øyvind Vik and CJ Reddick at the Omega stand.
“The annual meeting represents an excellent opportunity for us to meet our peers and to network with people from the industry”, says Øyvind Vik, president of Omega Project Solutions. Together with Ståle Håheim (Vice President) and CJ Reddick (independent consultant) they manned Omega's exhibition stand during the 3-day event in Seattle.
Since 1956, AACE International has been the leading-edge professional society for cost estimators, cost engineers, schedulers, project managers, and project control specialists. With over 7 000 members worldwide, AACE International is the largest organisation serving the entire spectrum of cost management professionals. AACE International is industry independent, and has members in 80 countries and 80 local sections.
PIMS in new projects
Project Controls Manager from StatoilHydro, Jens Petter Thoresen, was pleased to see Omega participating in Seattle. Through his work in StatoilHydro, Mr. Thoresen has been a long-time user of PIMS and has worked with Ståle Håheim during his tenure as head of Omega's StatoilHydro team in Stavanger. “I believe Omega has a lot to offer. I have always been exceedingly impressed with Omega's systems and their ability to understand projects and challenges and to deliver working solutions. I am thrilled to see that you are now doing more to get this message out internationally.” Mr Thoresen is currently heading up project controls on the multi billion In Salah Gas Southern Fields Project in Algeria, a Joint Venture between StatoilHydro, BP and Sonatrach. The JV has recently decided to use PIMS as their project management software.
Initiatives like this are part of the business development strategy in the US. After serving our current client's needs, one of our most important tasks is to raise the awareness of our products and services internationally. We have proven state of the art technology, products and services and are well positioned for future growth.

Opening up new markets
Martin Darley
Mark Grotefend
“We generated a great deal of interested around our products, and have many interesting leads to follow-up going forward. By participating in the event, we wanted to reach out to new clients, but also to existing clients, who might not have been completely aware of the range of our service offerings,” Ståle adds. Both also agree that it provided valuable insight into our competitive landscape, and that we are in an excellent position to increase our market share in the US market.
AACEI Region 5, which Houston belongs to, is led by Director Martin Darley. “Omega has been actively participating in our Houston community for some time now, and I was pleased to see that you decided to also come along to Seattle,” Martin says.
Mark Grotefend, incoming president of the AACE International organization, concurs. “Active participation is what drives an organization like AACEI. We appreciate having Omega as one of our corporate sponsors, and look forward to continue to expand our relationship in the future.”
