Liverpool Teambuilding

Liverpool is the perfect city for shopping and sightseeing. But for the Omega team that made the trip over the North Sea 05.-07. March, the big clash between top teams Liverpool and Manchester United was the main event.
The fewest of us like to start our Saturdays at five in the morning, but if you are going to Liverpool on a weekend trip, then you have to get up early. It was a tired, but optimistic flock that gathered in the KLM line at Sola airport. Via Amsterdam we flew to John Lennon Airport, and after some confusion with our luggage, the trip went further on to the Thistle Atlantic Tower Hotel.
Tour at Anfield
Team members got to know Anfield before the big game.
The Hotel was perfectly located in the city centre, next to the river Mersey. After a good lunch at the hotel, most of us came along to visit Anfield Road, FC Liverpool`s famous stadium. While sitting on the famous tribune The Kop, enthusiastic and patriotic guides gave us an insight to the history of the football club. The avowed supporters among us sang along to You`ll Never Walk Alone, while those of us with sympathies for other teams sneaked away without insulting anyone. We also had time for a visit to the museum at Anfield that shows the club`s many trophies. Evil tongues would have it that few of these trophies are of recent date.
There was no joint program for the afternoon, but many of used the opportunity for sightseeing by bus, guided by an enthusiastic woman from Liverpool. On the ride she showed us some of what the city has to offer and spiced the sightseeing with good stories. We gathered for a pleasant dinner in the evening, which many chose to end at a pub.
The big game
Exitement before the two English top teams meet.
The day of the game came with high expectations and a certain nervousness considering the tickets: Where would we sit? With the guest team? With the home team? Much happened behind the scenes, but we wound with the Manchester United supporters. The seating became a challenge for some who had to limit their Liverpool sympathies when Suarez dribbled the guest team of the court and Kuyt started scoring. And he did not stop until the hat trick was secured. The atmosphere in the stadium rose throughout the game and Chicharito gave Manchester United a supporting goal at the end. However, this was not enough to sweeten the resigned supporters of the guest team. Liverpool supporters knew how to appreciate the much earned victory and the resounding song from a happy Anfield audience made an impression on us all.
Meeting the stars
The time had come to let in the impressions of the day, relax, shop and wander the streets of Liverpool. Many used the opportunity to visit the Beatles museum. The last night before departure was somewhat special for those of us who had dinner at San Carlos restaurant with a special atmosphere, tasty Italian food, and entertaining waiters. All of a sudden Liverpool players Raul Meireles, Sotirios Kyrgiakos and Daniel Pacheco showed up, wandered around the restaurant wrote autographs and got photographed.
A happy Omega team went back to Norway the next day, after a great football trip to Liverpool with fun and positive participants. Even the Manchester United supporters thought it had been a good trip, and that`s saying something...
