Nordic Oceansport Week 2010

Ten Omega colleagues headed out to sea this summer to celebrate Nordic Oceansport Week with sightseeing, fine dining and teambuilding fun.
The Omega team enjoys great scenery and the wind in their hair.
In August 2010, Nordic Oceansport Week was held in the Austrheim community. Nordic Oceansport Week is an annual event that brings together local groups and organisations for a variety of sea-based sports and social events.
Keen to be a part of the festival, 10 Omega colleagues hit the water on a beautiful, sunny day for a two-hour RIB-boat (rigid inflatable boat) sightseeing tour of the wild and picturesque islands of the western sea around Nordhordland and Gulen in Sogn and Fjordane.
With the help of a local guide, we were able to see the an eagle’s nest, hiding places during the war for boats travelling to the Shetland Islands, small whales and porpoises. We even found time for a quick trip to greet the “king” in Skjerjehamn. Skjerjehamn is home to an enormous statue of King Olav V. The story goes that the statue was to be placed in Oslo, but as the committee responsible couldn’t agree where it should go, it was erected in Skjerjehamn — looking out to sea.
Following a fantastic boat trip, we returned to port and made our way to the “Havcamp” where we settled in to enjoy a gourmet meal prepared by chefs from the renowned Sweet + Salt restaurant in Bergen. After dinner, the Omega team squeezed in a visit to the “Havcamp” tent, where the live music and great atmosphere on offer was enjoyed by all.
